OnePlus today released the much awaited OxygenOS update for its flagship One smartphone in India. The said Android-based operating system brings a Lollipop update in addition to a set of features from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Whether or not this is what you prefer, the OxygenOS bestows “pure Android experience”. The update is meant only for the OnePlus One smartphones sold in India.
Users who want to get the updated experience on their OnePlus One need to manually download OxygenOS from OnePlus site. The update package contains OxygenOS 1.0.0 ROM that has been developed on Google’s Android Lollipop to compete against CyanogenMod 12S.
“By creating our own operating system, we can quickly respond to user feedback and make it easier for you to continue playing a fundamental role in the future of OnePlus,” said OnePlus co-founder and CEO Carl Pei in a blog post. “Our goal for OxygenOS is to provide faster, more meaningful updates and a better-integrated range of services for every OnePlus user.”
In terms of new features, OnePlus’ OxygenOS custom ROM has Off Screen Gestures, Quick Settings panel and File Manager. The update also has all the core Android Lollipop features that Google released last year. These features majorly include Material Design language tweaks, battery saver mode, new lock screen and Users profile.
